Privacy policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026 · Applies to Dear Us from the Microsoft Store and the Dear Us cloud service.

In short: your memories live on your own devices and are encrypted end to end with a key only your devices have. We can't read them. We keep only what's needed to run your account, deliver encrypted updates between your devices, and handle your plan. No ads, no tracking, no selling of data.

Who we are

Dear Us is made by Anthony Chaaya, an individual developer in Lebanon, publishing under the name axiant. (a personal brand, not a registered company). In this policy, "we" means me. Contact: dearus@axianthq.com.

What stays on your devices

Your journal, photos, videos, letters, time capsules, plans, answers and Cupid chats are stored on your own PCs. Backups you turn on go to a folder you choose, for example your own OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud Drive or Dropbox. Backups made by the Microsoft Store edition are encrypted with your space key, so those companies can't read them either.

Cupid

When you use Cupid, only what's needed for that request is sent: the messages you type to Cupid (with a few earlier messages of that chat), a shortlist of questions, or your date-idea filters (and open bucket-list titles only if you allow it in Settings). Never your journal, letters, time capsules, photos or videos. Requests go through our server to Google's Gemini API (paid tier, where Google doesn't use them to improve its products) and are not stored by us. Your Cupid chat history stays on your PC.

Your choices and rights

Security

Everything between your devices is sealed with XChaCha20-Poly1305 using your space key, which is created on your device and shared with your partner only through the invite code. Connections to our server use HTTPS. Keep your 24-word recovery phrase safe: we can't recover your space key for you.

Children

Dear Us is not meant for children under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app before it applies.
